IS LOOSE CLOTHING REALLY GOOD FOR US?

IS LOOSE CLOTHING REALLY GOOD FOR US?

Why feeling good in your clothes starts with staying connected to the body underneath.

Picture this.

You're on holiday. The sun is shining, there's a glass of rosé in your hand, lovely food, laughter, just as it should be.

Then holiday ends.

You pull on your jeans for the journey home and think, "hang on, have these shrunk?"

We've all been there.

And please don't think for a second I'm about to tell you not to have the rosé, the pudding, or the extra biscuit. Life is for living and enjoying.

But it did get me thinking, is living in loose clothing and elasticated waists making us less aware of our bodies?

It’s about body awareness

I love comfortable clothes as much as anyone, but elastic is forgiving. Our bodies can change and our clothes simply stretch with us.

Sometimes that's exactly what we want, but when everything we wear is loose or stretchy, it can also mean we get a little less aware of those small changes happening.

Until one day, that favourite dress or those jeans don't fit and it knocks our confidence.

That's what it comes down to for me.

Not a number on a label or a scale, just body awareness. Feeling connected.

My “clothes diet”

And that's where my little phrase, "clothes diet", comes in.

Don't panic, no dieting involved.

It's simply about wearing something that makes me feel connected to my body.

It's one of the reasons I created the second skin body in the first place.

I never wanted to make something you dragged out for a wedding or squeezed into for a dress.

I wanted an everyday base layer that helps my skin feel supported, that helps me stand a bit taller and makes my clothes sit beautifully while still being comfortable enough to actually live in.

Support, not squeeze.

And something interesting happens when I wear mine.

I feel good.

And when I feel good, I'm naturally more aware of looking after myself. Sometimes the extra biscuit is absolutely a "yes please", and sometimes not.

That's awareness.

We evolve. Our bodies evolve.

My customers loved the original second skin body, and that meant everything.

But just as I evolve, as we evolve, I wanted it to evolve too.

That's what led to the next generation second skin body, a bit more bust support, a gentle bottom lift, beautiful smoothing, while keeping that everyday comfort and support that mattered so much from the beginning.

Because our bodies evolve too, through life, through menopause, through holidays, and simply getting older.

I don't think the answer is to fight or hide from that.

I think it's about evolving with our bodies, looking after them, supporting them, and wearing clothes that make us feel good about ourselves today.

Not waiting until we've changed something.

Have the rosé. Have the biscuit. And don’t forget you.

So have the holiday.

Have the Rosé.

Have the extra biscuit when you want it, but don't forget you underneath your clothes.

Stand tall, feel your body, enjoy getting dressed.

Underneath it all, you've got that base layer of confidence that's inside every Alicia Kite garment .

Because when you feel good on the inside, you shine on the outside.

Love,
